Past Governor Clarence Parkins Clarence Parkins was born and raised in West Virginia.
He has a BS degree from Marshall University with a major in Business Administration
and a minor in Econom ics. He was a member of the men’s basketball team for four
years. and played in two NCAA tournaments.He and his wife Sallie have been married
for 46 years and have two grown children and three grandchildren.
They live in Gold
River, where Sallie is active in the Gold River Villagers, an organization where
she has served as Historian, Treasurer and Secretary. She is also a member of the
Rancho Cordova Rotary Inner Wheel Club.
Clarence began his business career with Dun
& Bradstreet. Inc. in Miami, moving to Jacksonville, as Reg. Sales Manager.
He joined Genuine Parts Company (NAPA) in 1966 holding positions in Miami, Cleveland,
Morgan Hill, CA. Fresno, Salt Lake City and L. A. In 1989 he retired and he and
Sallie purchased two NAPA Auto Parts stores in So. California. In 1992 he became
Presidentand CEO of the California Automotive Wholesalers Association in Sacramento.
Since 1996 he has been a Lobbyist in Sacramento for the Automotive Aftermarket Association.
Clarence was asked to join the Rotary Club of Rancho Cordova in 1992. He has served
his club as Vocational Chair, Community Service Chair, Bulletin Editor, Membership
Chair and Club Foundation Director. He was Club President in 2000-2001. On the District
level he has served as Community Service Chair. District Assembly Committee and
Presenter, an Am bassadorial Scholarship Interviewer, STRS Presenter, and two years
as Assistant Gov. He has 13 years perfect attendance, and is a member of the Paul
Harris Society and a Benefactor. Sallie is also a Paul Harris Fellow and Benefactor,
and their two children are Paul Harris Fellows.
Outside of Rotary, Clarence has
been a member of the Sales and Marketing Executives of Jacksonville, active in many
Chambers of Commerce, a member of the Marshall University Lettermen’s Club, and
the Airplane Owners and Pilots Association, and is a licensed pilot. He sits on
the Board of the Big Valley Federal Credit Union. Clarence’s hobbies are running
and golf. He has run five Marathons. |
